Challenge |
The group was started in 1965 as The Beatboys with a lineup featuring the Clarke brothers, Steve (Saxophone) and Gary (Lead Guitar) along with Ricky Ball (Drums) and Bruce Kennedy (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals). Bruce would be replaced as vocalist by Alex Peters. Eddie Hansen moved to Auckland and joined Challenge. The group would eventually break up, and a new group called The Courtiers was formed, with a lineup consisting of Ricky Ball, Steve and Gary Clarke and a new lead guitarist Tony McNulty (ex The Triffids). At that point Gary Clarke switched to bass guitar and shortly thereafter Tony took over the vocal slot with the addition of John Bush on lead guitar |
