The Kor-Tels competeed in the Big Beat Dance Band Contest held in February 1965 in Canterbury Court, Christchurch.
The group placed 4th out of six finalists.  The contest was won by Chants R&B, with Peter, Paul and The Pursuers second, and Timaru's Beat Unlimited in third place.
