Sharon O'Neill was born on November 23rd, 1952 in Nelson, New Zealand, and was a self-taught musician who started composing at an early age.  Sharon's first recordings were on the ODE Label in 1971 as Suitewater.  She moved to Christchurch in 1972 and joined up with local group Chapta.  Embarking on a solo touring career, she also recorded several albums, the most successful of which was Foreign Affairs in 1983 - and this include her major work Maxine.  After her CBS contract expired, she moved to the Polydor Label.  Sharon now lives in Sydney, Australia.  In 2014 SONY released WORDS The Very Best Of Sharon O'Neill.
