The Soul Distinction  —  a Christchurch 60's/70's rock group (1969 - 1973) .....
Mark Loeffen (Bass), Vern Park (Vocals), Rob Wilson (Drums) and Ian MacDonnell (Lead Guitar) and Dave Graham (Hammond Organ)

A notable Christchurch based band performing covers of the day, started out gigging at dances, youth clubs, weddings, parties etc., then went on to the club and pub scene.  Mark Loeffen and Vern Park had formerly played in the Christchurch band The Heritage.

The group had many lineup changes over the years including Adrian Cook (Bass Guitar), Ian Stewart, Richard Stewart and Richard Carr (Lead Guitar) in the latter years.  Research suggests the band still existed as late as 1977.  Probably not many will remember Zone 2 the Barrington Street dance venue in the early 1970's, but for those who do, you may remember The Soul Distinction who played there each Saturday night.  The band did a great rendition of The Peddlers' Girlie, with Dave Graham on the Hammond Organ.
