The Strangers: circa '64 Lead Guitar Arthur Thain Rhythm Guitar and Vocals Graeme Ching Bass Guitar Gary Thain Drums: Dave Beattie The Strangers were resident at the The Zodiac Lounge (Caledonian Hall, Kilmore Street, Christchurch), and the group included the Thain brothers, Arthur (Lead Guitar) and Gary (Bass) along with Drummer Dave Beattie and Rhythm Guitarist/Vocalist Graeme Ching. Gary went on to greater things, eventually winding up as bassman in the internationally famous group Uriah Heep, before dying of a drug overdose at the very early age of 27. |
