The Versatiles -a new group formed by Gary Jones (formerly vocalist with The Saints)
Ken Richardson (Tenor Saxophone), Gary Jones (Vocals), Neale Stringer (Drums), Bob McNeeley (Lead Guitar), Stu Murray (Rhythm Guitar), Ashley Glubb (Bass)
The Versatiles played at Coca Cola Hi-Fi Club Shows, along with other local artists, which were held at the Caledonian Hall in Kilmore Street. These shows were hosted by compère Des Britten, and they complimented his weekly Coca Cola Hi-Fi Club Radio Top Tunes slot. Each week there were various popular acts of the day, including Wellington duo Bill and Boyd. Thereafter, Gary went into the jazz field and sang for a number of groups at pubs and clubs spanning the 70s and 80s. |
